7:30 pm - Breakout Sessions

  • Beyond Open Source - What to Look for in a PaaS to Avoid Getting Locked-InWhen evaluating a PaaS - you ask obvious questions like, "Does it support my stack? Does it auto-scale? Does it integrate with my tools?" But, how about, "Does it lock me in?" Application portability should be right up there on your short list of questions. In this breakout session, OpenShift Paas Strategist, Dan Juengst walks you through the process of what to look for and what questions to ask to ensure your cloud provider isn't locking you in. We'll survey a few case studies, the pitfalls to avoid and demonstrate the importance of insisting on open source, open standards, open APIs and application portability from your provider.
  • Enterprise PaaS: Enterprise-grade PaaS capabilities allow organizations to deliver cloud services that improve application development and deployment economics and speed while maintaining the ability to differentiate at the application layer. This session will present a framework covering the development life cycle steps of develop, test, deploy, run, and manage applications in a cloud PaaS environment. Attendees understand the application of this framework to a Public Sector example case study.
